Description
In Mervyn’s Revenge, written by Leone Peguero and illustrated by Shirley Peters, readers meet Mervyn, a self-centred and cunning cat who believes he has his doting family completely “wrapped around his paw”.
The story kicks off when Mervyn is stalking the garden and happens to overhear his family discussing their upcoming holiday. He is outraged to discover that they plan to go away without him, leaving him in the care of a next-door neighbour and her “yapping dog” (or, in some versions, a cattery).
Feeling betrayed, Mervyn uses his feline cunning to plot a series of elaborate revenge schemes. However, despite his best efforts, his plans consistently go awry, leading to hilarious and backfiring results for the poor “ball of fluff”.
