Description
The wonderful symphony of
green and stone which
clothes Sintra and ‘on which
Sintra stands – that is what
this book is about.
A magical trip through this
unique and beautiful spot of
Portugal.
Afonso Manuel Alves and
Luis Leiria de Lima are the
inspired photographers,
supported by Margarida
Bico’s clear and concise text
and the magical words of Eca
de Queiroz with excerpts
from «The Maias».
AFONSO MANUEL AL VES
was born in Sobral da Adica in the
Alentejo, in 1949 and Evora trained his
horizon until he entered college.
Photography was, in fact, his great
passion and for that reason he put aside
electrical engineering and started teaching
visual arts until he managed to establish
himself professionally. He is a
photographer just for the pleasure of
looking around and inventing the world
through his own eyes.
Sintra is all this and still the desire to
show this beautiful place to the world
through these, frequently unusual,
panoramas.
LVIS LEIRIA DE LIMA
was born in Parede in 1944.and in spite
of working with computers, he has alway:
been attracted to photography, for its
different ways of registering the world
surrounding him.
The ambiance of Sintra has, for as long
as he remembers, fascinated him for its
multiple reminders of the late-nineteenth
century, this enchantment became
encreasingly evident and selective
throughout his trips abroad, through
Europe and the Middle East.
It was from this passion
for Sintra that his eo-production
of this book came about.
In excellent preloved condition with the exception of minor wear to dust jacket. A special book.
