Description
The third volume of The New Pelican Guide to English Literature covers the period from John Donne to Andrew Marvell. Similar in format to its companion volumes, it begins with a discussion of the background to English literature from 1603 to 1660 and an account of the literature itself. Following are a series of essays which deal in detail with Donne, the poems of Ben Jonson, Herbert and the devotional poets, the Cavalier poets, Milton, Hobbes, Bunyan and Cowley, plus an indispensable appendix of biographies and bibliographies.
