WATER SKIING
FOR ALL
by WALTER N. PRINCE
This book will prove to be a valuable
asset to the thousands of people who
have yet to put on a pair of water skis
for the first time. Not only does it con-
tain the fundamentals of this new and
exciting sport, but also it reveals secrets
of better skiing to those who wish to
learn more about jumping, trick skiing,
and slalom skiing.
There are also chapters on boat driv-
ing, tournaments, and, of course, bare-
foot and shoe skiing for those who may
wish to try these exciting variations.
The reader will find pictures and il-
lustrations showing the exact positions
of the feet and the body during the
various phases of skiing, as well as plans
for the construction of skis, jumping
ramps, tow handles, and tow bars.
This book is not intended for the skier
alone. The person who may wish to put
on a ski show or start a ski school will
find at his fingertips the information
necessary to do so. The onlooker who
enjoys watching water ski meets, but
who does not ski himself, will also enjoy
this book. He will find the rules of the
sanctioned A.W.S.A. (American Water
Ski Association) meets and will learn
the correct method of judging the skiers’
form and style in the different events.
All in all, the entire family may read
this book and enjoy it.
THE AUTHOR
Walter N. Prince was born in Los
Angeles, California, and took his first
ride on a pail: of water skis when he was
eight years old. Since then he has been
associated with ski schools from Cali-
fornia to Florida, and was recently con-
nected with the Santa Monica Ski School
in Santa Monica, California.
When he was instructing water skiing
at the Miami Beach Ski Club in Miami
Beach, Florida, he jumped over a five-
foot wooden jumping ramp while riding
a “saucer,” a flat piece of wood with no
bindings.
“To my knowledge,” says Mr. Prince,
“this stunt had never before been suc-
cessfully completed.”
