    Description

Twenty years ago, New Zealand was a backwater of the wine world, producing undistinguished table wines and strong, sweet ‘sherries’ and ‘ports’. Today, however, it ranks among the most exciting of the New World’s wine producers.

This comprehensive book tells the story of a fascinating and fast-changing new wine country in the South Pacific, and details the top producers and labels.

The introductory section contains a history or wine in New Zealand from the vineyards planted in 1836 by James Busby to the thriving export market of the 1990s, as well as overview of climate, soils, grape varieties, wine making techniques, laws and labelling requirements, and vintage charts.

The winery profiles are by region, and at the foot of each profile there are star ratings of key wines. The producers covered range from small, virtually unknown boutique wineries to well-established, internationally famous companies.

Hardcover, 213 pages. In excellent pre-loved condition.
